Open Work Permit In Canada
What is Open Work Permit ?
An Open Work Permit also known as open work visa refers to a permit granted by the Canadian authorities that permit the holder to work for any employer within Canada regardless of the availability of a job offer in that country. Unlike the former one, this type is not limited and linked to employer’s name or the certain job position.
Key Features of Open Work Permit:
No restrictions apply to employers
An Open Work Permit is different from a closed work permit because the holder of the open work permit permit can work for any employer in Canada, including those without written contracts or offer of employment.
Flexible Employment Options
It can be done and held many positions simultaneously; in several fields or organizations, or in different locations and that is why it is suitable for those looking for working experience, promotion, or just other opportunities.
Spouses and partners are also eligible in the program.
Some students are also allowed to work while they study if their husband or wife, spouse or common-law partner is a skilled worker or student in Canada and the partner is permitted to apply for an Open Work Permit.
No LMIA Required
Unlike other work permit, no Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is required from the Canadian employer, hence making it easy for an applicant to secure an Open Work Permit.
Temporary but Renewable
The permit can be secured for a limited timeframe but it can be renewed and the applicant circumstances and the program they meet the qualifications for will determine the validity of the permit. Work during Pending PR or Study permits.
It can also be issued to those who are applying for PR- permit or students who want to start working immediately after their study permit expires.
