Eligibility Criteria
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a program which employs the provincial and territorial nominee individuals for permanent residency on the basis of their specific needs of economic and labor market. There are unique streams and eligibility criteria by province and territory based on their priorities. However, common eligibility factors across most PNPs include.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Age:
There is no universal age limit, however candidates in this age group tend to get better score in certain streams.
Education:
A minimum high school diploma is usually needed, though higher education levels (such as bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral) is helpful. Any foreign credentials may also require an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to determine equivalency to Canadian standards.
Work Experience:
Applicants must have been working in occupations related to the province’s labour market needs. Duration and type of experience required, however, vary by province and stream.
Language Proficiency:
English or French is essential. To be considered, applicants must show the results of a valid language test such as IELTS or CELPIP for English, or TEF for French, with a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) indicated for the PNP stream applied to.
Job Offer:
Certain PNP streams require a job offer from an employer in that province, while there are others that don’t. The need varies with the stream and province.
Intent to Reside:
Applicants have to show that they have a genuine intention to live and work in the nominating province or territory.
Adaptability:
Adaptability can be enhanced, by factors including previous study or work experience in the province, family connections or spouse’s qualifications.
Financial Stability:
They usually require proof of sufficient funds on hand to support oneself and accompanying family members as soon as one arrives in Canada.

Program Options Under Express Entry
Skilled Worker Streams
This approach targets work experience with people in occupations in demand in the province. To be considered, applicants normally must meet certain education, work experience and language skills requirements.
International Graduate Streams
Meant for recent grads from recognized post secondary institutions in the province. And their respective streams often involve a job offer with a local employer and, I believe, this is intended to retain that talent educated within the province.
Business and Entrepreneur Streams
Designed for those who have business ownership or management experience and wish to invest and actively manage a business in the province. You may need to demonstrate that you have a minimum amount of net worth and investment.
Semi-Skilled and Entry-Level Worker Streams
In focus on workers in occupations that have low levels of formal training but are necessary to the province's economy as in agriculture, hospitality and in manufacturing sectors.
Express Entry-Aligned Streams
The federal Express Entry system is tied to these streams that allow provinces to nominate candidates already in the Express Entry pool. This Streams allow a provincial nomination which in itself adds 600 points to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and gives one more chance to receive the Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.
Occupation In-Demand Streams
Work on individuals who have some experience in the sectors where there is a higher demand in the province. In some cases, these streams don’t need a job offer and your profile should show some experience in the designated occupations.
Community-Driven Streams
There are some provinces with streams dedicated to bringing immigrants to their territory as part of the efforts to deal with regional shortages of labor and to encourage regional development.
