Eligibility Criteria
Applicants need to meet minimum requirements in different categories in order to qualify for Express Entry. These are criteria that help to make sure that candidates are qualified and have the skill set to adequately contribute to the economy for this country.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Age:
There’s no strict age cut off, but those applying between 30 and 35 usually do better. Age points decrease gradually past 30, and those over 44 do not get age points.
Education:
An applicant must have completed secondary school diploma (high school) or above. Extra points are given for higher education (post school diplomas, bachelors, masters or doctorates). Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from a recognized Canada must be done on foreign credentials.
Work Experience:
Applicants should have at least one year of full time (or equivalent part time) skilled work experience, in the ten years before the date of this event. It should be in a skilled occupation, as designated under Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.
Language Proficiency:
Either English or French must be your first language. For English: participants need to pass an approved test of English, such as IELTS or CELPIP; and for French, a TEF or TCF. Programs must require that scores meet the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) required for the program. The more scores, the more points.
