Eligibility Criteria
In Canada we have the Caregiver Program that offers the option of working and maybe even become permanent residents if you provide care for a person that needs. This program includes two primary streams of stream — the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Relevant Work Experience:
Home Child Care Provider Pilot:
Those applying must have had 24 months of full time care of children under 18 in their own home or in their employer’s home. Home Support Worker Pilot: Applicants must have 24 full-time months of experience in care giving to persons with 24 months high medical need, namely, elderly and persons with disabilities in a home setting.
2. Job Offer:
You must have a genuine, full time job offer from a Canadian employer in a caregiving role. The position must be outside of the province of Quebec as a condition of the job offer.
3. Language Proficiency:
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English or French by achieving a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5 in all four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
4. Education:
You need a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent foreign credential. Foreign credentials must be accompanied by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report issued by a designated organization congruent with Canadian Accredited Credentials Inc. (CAC) acceptable equivalency criteria.
5. Admissibility:
To be admissible to Canada, they should be medically and criminally inadmissible.
6. Intent to Reside Outside Quebec:
These programs are not available to Quebec only; applicants must live and work in a province or territory outside of Quebec.
